Zion National Park
A Success Story for Desert Bighorns
Zion Canyon is host to several small bands of Desert Bighorn Sheep.
They are native to the park, but by the 1950s died out due to hunting and from diseases contracted from domestic sheep.
The bighorns pictured here are descendents of desert bighorns reintroduced to the park in the 1970s.
